Ceramics History
In
and around Mezotur, the clay to be mined is of the best quality
in Hungary.
The plotters craft settled here for the row materials has
even several age-long traditions.
The 1518th year tax-register of the city had already contained a
list of plotter craftsmen.
The typical industrial system of the Middle Ages, so called guild
system was disintegrated under the nearly 150-year long Ottoman
rule and reorganized only in 1817. However several wars and economic
crisis had hindered the development of the handicraft trade, they
could not waste it.
At
the turn of the XIX-XX. Centuries there were almost 100 workshops
being run. Master craftsman Balazs Badar had even built up a fine
reputation in Europe for himself and the city has been famous for
its potters craft up to the present times. Due to the development
of the manufacturing industry and trade of the country, in the first
quarter of the XX. Century most of the private workshops went out
of potters craft. Their role was gradually assumed by the
Co-operative Society of Ceramics in 1951. The professional skill
was able to be saved, improved and left to new generations even
under bad circumstances through many centuries.
The
Turi Fazekas Kft was established in 1991 on the spiritual and material
basis created by these ancestors. At the beginning of the 90s
the taxation law reflecting its culture policy has begun to supplant
the traditional ceramics manufacture from the medium-sized workshop-system.
This was one more reason for our firm to turn to the western markets,
which have not been unknown for our managers even before, and we
have set ourselves an aim to capture and keep these markets. This
required a new production profile, technology and business policy
to be taken into the history of the plotters craft in Master.
90 % of the products of our workshop employing 70-100 persons are
distributed in the western-, more exactly in the Western European
markets.
There
are big store chains like IKEA as well as smaller shops and also
marketing companies to be found among our partners.
We are present at the exhibitions of Frankfurt
Ambiente and Tendence regularly.
